Akanu Ibiam International Airport Receives Aerodrome Certification

Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu has officially gained aerodrome certification for 2026 from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The certification was presented during a ceremony at the NCAA headquarters, where the Director General, Capt.

Chris Najomo, described the certification as a landmark achievement that aligns Nigeria with the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This milestone is particularly critical as Nigeria prepares for the upcoming ICAO monitoring activities.

The certification process concluded after a rigorous five-phase evaluation, which involved close collaboration with various agencies. The certification was accepted on behalf of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) by Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku.

Additionally, Director of Commercial Business Development, Ms. Adebola Agunbiad, expressed gratitude to the technical team involved and reaffirmed the authority's commitment to maintaining high operational standards across Nigerian airports.
