Chuba Akpom Joins Ipswich Town Permanently After Promotion

Chuba Akpom has finalized a permanent move to Ipswich Town following the club's promotion to the Premier League. The transfer, which becomes effective on July 1, 2026, includes a three-year contract that will keep him at Portman Road until 2029.

The deal reportedly involves a mandatory clause worth £9 million, with Akpom having spent the 2025-2026 season on loan at Ipswich, making 29 appearances, primarily from the bench, and scoring twice. His last goal came during a 3-0 victory against Oxford United on New Year's Day.

Ajax confirmed the transfer in a statement, highlighting Ipswich's return to the top flight and the reshaping plans behind the scenes at the club. Akpom's career has seen him develop a strong scoring reputation, although he struggled to cement a regular role at Ajax before opting for a loan move to Ipswich in August 2025.
