Akume and Alia Clash Over APC Automatic Ticket Dispute

During a peace meeting held at the Government House in Makurdi, Benue State, on a Sunday, George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Governor Hyacinth Alia disagreed over the issue of 'automatic tickets' for APC officeholders. The meeting aimed to address the lingering leadership crisis within the party, which has been ongoing for three years due to power struggles.

Akume stated that part of the resolution included granting automatic tickets to elected APC officials, including the governor and members of the national and state assemblies. He also apologized for the crisis affecting the party.

However, Governor Alia countered Akume's position, asserting that no agreement regarding automatic tickets had been made, and emphasized that the national chairman of the party had made it clear that such arrangements do not exist. This disagreement underscores the divisions within the APC in Benue State, which has led to the emergence of parallel factions and executive structures at various levels.
