Nigeria's Delegation Attends Jesse Jackson's Funeral

Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, led Nigeria's delegation to the funeral of Reverend Jesse Jackson, a prominent American civil rights leader, held on February 17, 2026, in Chicago. The delegation was sent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who expressed his condolences through a message delivered by the team.

The delegation included notable figures such as Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy; Hannatu Musawa, the Special Presidential Envoy for Global Pan-African Affairs; Brian Brown, the Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and International Relations; and Ambassador Sola Enikanolay.
