Akwa Ibom Athletes Qualify for 2026 World Relays

Four athletes from Akwa Ibom State, comprising two females and two males, are set to compete in the 2026 World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana. This team includes Jacinta Lawrence, Esther Peter, Ezekiel Eno, and Victor Sampson, who will participate in the 4x400 meter events.

Their performance will be vital as it serves as a qualifying series for the 2027 World Athletics Championship in Beijing, China. The Akwa Ibom State Commission for Sports, led by Elder Paul Bassei, congratulated the athletes, emphasizing the pride they bring to the state.

Pastor Umo Eno, the sponsor of the Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival, is recognized for his investment in grassroots sports development. The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, represented by Technical Director Gabriel Okon and Secretary Israel Inwang, will oversee the team's participation in various relay events, including the women's and men's 4x100m and 4x400m, as well as mixed relays.
