Akwa Ibom Wins $6.2M World Bank Award for Governance

Akwa Ibom State has been awarded $6,206,745.42 by the World Bank for its exemplary performance in transparency and good governance. Governor Pastor Umo Eno disclosed this during a monthly covenant service held on July 1, 2026, at the Government House in Uyo.

He noted that this recognition underscores the administration's commitment to accountable and prudent management of public resources and aligns with the state's reform agenda. The award comes as Akwa Ibom emerges as one of Nigeria's top-performing states, as recognized by the Commonwealth Institute for Advanced Professional Studies.

Governor Eno reaffirmed the administration's dedication to delivering on its agenda for sustainable development, which requires careful planning and patience. Additionally, he announced the resumption of international flight operations from Uyo to Accra, Ghana, and the procurement of 50 new compressed natural gas buses to enhance public transport.
