Akwa Ibom Wins Four Awards at Security Watch Africa

At the 19th Security Watch Africa Conference and Awards held on July 23, 2026, in Banjul, The Gambia, Akwa Ibom State was recognized with four prestigious awards. Governor Umo Eno was named the African Leader in People-Centric Governance in 2025.

Additionally, Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare received the title of Best Anti-Crime Bursting Police Chief in West and Central Africa, while Chief Superintendent of Police Besta Sini John was honored as the Best Close Protection Police Officer in the same region. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command was recognized as the Most Proactive Police Command in Nigeria.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Akon Etim Eyakenyi, represented Governor Eno and emphasized the state's commitment to governance that prioritizes security and development.

Governor Eno expressed gratitude to Security Watch Africa and its CEO, Patrick Agbambu, for creating a platform that addresses security issues across the continent.
