Akwa Ibom Governor Declares Health Sector State of Emergency

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has declared a state of emergency in the health sector, aiming to transform service delivery. The State Executive Council approved interventions to strengthen medical facilities, recruit healthcare workers, and enhance training institutions.

The government simplified the application process for healthcare workers and engaged retired professionals to fill critical gaps. A supplementary budget of billions was approved to boost healthcare spending, including funding for minimum wage implementation and NYSC allowances.

These reforms are geared towards improving healthcare accessibility and efficiency in Akwa Ibom State, prioritizing the well-being of its residents.
