Akwa Ibom Governor Declares Health Emergency, Seeks ₦695bn Budget

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State declares a health emergency and seeks a ₦695 billion supplementary budget to address healthcare challenges. The decision follows the tragic death of a woman at the General Hospital in Ikot Ekpene, emphasizing the urgent need for healthcare reforms.

The proposed budget aims to cover various areas, including new minimum wage allowances, flood and erosion control projects, infrastructure provision, and the creation of new ministries. Additionally, the budget includes plans for a Tree Crop Revolution, housing estate construction, and the renovation of the Assembly complex.

The state government also plans to enhance medical facilities, recruit healthcare workers, and improve healthcare services.
