Akwa Ibom State Government Verifies Youth Leaders for Security Training

The Akwa Ibom State Government has completed the verification and accreditation of 2,183 village youth presidents from a total of 2,272 gazetted villages for training by security agencies. The Commissioner for Youths, Dr Ekerette Ekanem, announced this during a ministerial press briefing in Uyo, stating that the verification process for the remaining 89 youth presidents is currently underway.

This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen grassroots security and community development. Dr Ekanem also mentioned that a stakeholders’ roundtable has been organized to review the Akwa Ibom State Youth Policy Development Roadmap, aiming to create job opportunities and promote inclusion in government policies.

Additionally, he revealed that the governor has approved an increase in the monthly allowances for youth corps members from N5,000 to N20,000. Dr Anietie Udofia, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, also spoke about the government's investments in tourism to position Akwa Ibom as a major destination.
