Akwa Ibom Invests N879 Billion in Infrastructure Projects

The Akwa Ibom State Government reported spending over N879 billion on infrastructure projects during Governor Umo Eno's administration over three years. Commissioner for Works, Prof. Eno Ibanga, announced this in Uyo, detailing that the expenditure covered 234 projects, including roads, erosion control, and electrical works.

The projects encompass a total of 1,159.63 km of roads, with 352.83 km of Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) roads being developed in collaboration with the World Bank. Ibanga specified that the total amount spent, excluding RAAMP projects, is N879.22 billion.

The projects include the design, construction, and maintenance of roads, bridges, and electrical systems, as well as traffic management and quality control services. Achievements under Eno's administration include completing 105 inherited projects and 129 ARISE Finance and General Purpose Committee projects.

Additionally, 16 new road projects were awarded in 2026, with plans for completion before the end of Eno's second term.
