Alaafin of Oyo, Top Yoruba Traditional Leaders Storm Abuja, Reason, Details Emerge

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, along with other top Yoruba traditional leaders, visited Abuja for a meeting with Speaker Dr. Tajudeen Abass and Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

The delegation included Oba Owoade, his wife, and Prince Akeem Adeyemi, among others. The meeting focused on the role of traditional rulers in national development and community safety.

Speaker Abass highlighted the importance of traditional institutions and mentioned a bill that would formally assign a role to traditional rulers, which is currently receiving legislative attention. IGP Egbetokun emphasized the crucial role of traditional institutions in community safety and national security, promising closer engagement between the police and traditional leaders to tackle insecurity and strengthen community policing.

The visit aimed to strengthen the relationship between traditional rulers and the government in addressing security challenges.
