Albarka Foundation Donates Mental Health Drugs in Sokoto

On Tuesday, the Albarka Health Spring Foundation (AHSF) launched a distribution program for psychotropic and other drugs in Sokoto State, Nigeria. The initiative, in collaboration with CBM, aims to strengthen access to integrated mental health services and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) across communities.

Mr. Omey Matthew, the Executive Director of AHSF, explained that the psychotropic drugs, which include antidepressants and anxiolytics, are intended to treat various mental health conditions.

The program targets four local government areas: Rabah, Wurno, Dang, and Shuni. Mr.

Thomson Ibrahim, a humanitarian response officer at CBM, praised the partnership with AHSF, emphasizing its significance in improving health access in the region. Alhaji Abubakar Moham Kaura, Director of the Sokoto State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the challenges in accessing drugs for vulnerable populations.

The event was attended by various government officials, traditional rulers, and community representatives, all advocating for the proper management of the distributed drugs.
