Sprint Champion Alfred Withdraws from Tokyo 200m Due to Injury

Olympic sprint champion Julien Alfred has pulled out of the Tokyo 200m event due to a hamstring strain. Alfred, representing Saint Lucia, suffered a grade one hamstring injury during the shorter sprint final, forcing her withdrawal from the 200m heats.

Her agent, Henry Rolle, confirmed the injury and stated that Alfred will focus on recovery for the upcoming seasons. Alfred, who won gold and silver in the 100m and 200m at the Paris World Championships, aims to return stronger for future competitions.

The setback in Tokyo has led to a strategic decision to prioritize rehabilitation and preparation for the 2026 season.
