Ex-IGP Alkali Enters Yobe Governorship Race

Alhaji Usman Baba Alkali, the former Inspector General of Police, has officially joined the Yobe State governorship race by picking up a nomination form. He spoke to journalists in Damaturu, the state capital, where he indicated that he is fully prepared to compete for the party's ticket.

Alkali's decision comes after a consensus agreement among four other aspirants, who had also purchased forms, failed to materialize. He emphasized that he had consulted local authorities and verified the validity of his nomination form.

Alkali noted that no other aspirant had shown any signs of support for the consensus arrangement, which he understood was not feasible. He further explained his commitment to supporting the primary election process, regardless of whether it takes place as scheduled or not.
