JAMB Warns Against Exam Fraud as Suspect Confesses

Emmanuel Prais Akataka, an alleged serial exam fraudster, confessed to his involvement in fraudulent activities targeting candidates of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). JAMB's registrar, Prof.

Ishaq Oloyede, announced Akataka's arrest and warned the public against falling victim to illegal schemes promising score manipulation. Akataka, a member of a criminal conspiracy involving impersonation and identity theft, reportedly used a WhatsApp platform to offer fake services, deceiving at least 94 candidates who sought score enhancement through non-existent services.

Despite being granted bail, Akataka allegedly resumed fraudulent activities, demanding 70,000 naira from candidates under false pretenses. He disclosed that he had established contact with previous victims and used multiple bank accounts, including one belonging to his late father, to collect payments.

Oloyede reiterated that the board would not relent in safeguarding the integrity of the examination system and warned candidates and parents about the legal consequences of engaging with fraudsters.
