JAMB Dismisses Staff, Cancels 100 Registrations Over Fraud

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has taken significant action against examination fraud by dismissing three staff members and canceling over 100 registrations linked to a sophisticated scheme. Registrar Prof.

Ishaq Oloyed announced these measures during a press conference at JAMB headquarters on Saturday. The fraudulent activities involved the use of artificial intelligence to impersonate senior officials and create fake identities, soliciting payments from candidates and parents.

Investigations revealed that at least 83 candidates across 25 states had subscribed to these illicit services. Oloyed emphasized that the board is committed to safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria's educational system and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.

He also rejected claims of increased registration fees as politically motivated and stated that JAMB is investing in financial technology to protect the credibility of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The board aims to defend millions of honest candidates against such criminal syndicates.
