Former Lawmaker Farouk Lawan Speaks After Presidential Pardon, Realigns Politically Ahead of 2023 Elections

Farouk Lawan, a former Nigerian lawmaker convicted of bribery in 2012, has been granted a presidential pardon by President Bola Tinubu. Lawan, from Kano State, expressed gratitude for the pardon, revealing his decision to realign politically with the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Despite his past affiliations, Lawan has chosen to support the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) for the upcoming 2023 elections. He maintains mutual respect for Kwankwasiyya leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Lawan's focus is now on broader national issues, following his release from prison in 2024.
