Miyetti Allah President Bodejo Granted N2bn Bail in Court

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja admitted Bodejo, the president of Miyetti Allah, to bail in the sum of N2 billion on charges of money laundering amounting to $2.63 million. The bail conditions include two sureties and a three-year tax clearance, with one surety required to possess land worth N2 billion in Abuja.

The court ordered Bodejo to surrender his international passport and not to travel outside the country without court permission. The charges stem from allegations that Bodejo accepted cash payments exceeding the statutory cash transaction threshold of N5 million on multiple occasions between January 2022 and March 2024, without lawful authorization.

Bodejo pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him. The trial is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2023, with the next court date set for July 9, 2023.
