Court Threatens to Revoke Sowore's Bail Over Absence

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar, threatened to revoke the bail granted to politician Omoyele Sowore and issue an arrest warrant after he failed to attend a court hearing on Thursday. The prosecution, represented by Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, noted that Sowore had chosen not to appear in court despite evidence that a hearing notice had been served to his legal team.

The case, which involves charges related to cybercrime, has been ongoing since late last year. Justice Umar acknowledged that this was the first instance of Sowore's absence and had previously granted him the benefit of the doubt.

However, he expressed that if Sowore did not attend the next scheduled hearing on March 16, he would not hesitate to grant the prosecution's request to revoke his bail and issue an arrest warrant. The court adjourned the case until the next hearing date.
