Court Warns Sowore of Bail Revocation Over Absence

On Thursday, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar, threatened to revoke Omoyele Sowore's bail due to his absence from trial concerning alleged cybercrime offenses. The court issued a warning to Sowore's legal team after they failed to appear for a scheduled hearing.

Prosecuting counsel Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, informed the court that Sowore had duly received a hearing notice, yet neither he nor his lawyer was present. The court noted that this absence was significant as it occurred during a critical phase of the trial, which commenced late last year.

Justice Umar acknowledged that this was the first instance of Sowore's absence but cautioned that failure to attend the next hearing could result in serious consequences, including the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest. The matter has been adjourned until March 16, with a fresh hearing notice directed to the defense.
