Court Sets May 26 for DSS Case Against Malami and Son

The Federal High Court has set May 26 for the Department of State Services (DSS) to commence its case against Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation, and his son, Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami. The court session, presided over by Justice Joyc Abdulmalik, follows a request from the DSS to amend the charges initially filed against the defendants.

The charges include allegations of preparing to commit acts of terrorism and illegal possession of firearms, specifically a Sturm Magnum 17 0101 firearm, 16 Redstar AAA 5.20 live rounds, and 27 expendable Redstar cartridges, all purportedly possessed without a license. During the proceedings, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Their lawyer, Shaibu Aruwa, confirmed the agreement to the amended charges and requested a trial date, which the court granted while allowing the defendants to remain on bail, as the conditions set previously were met. The case has been adjourned to June 15 for further proceedings.
