Court Sets May 26 for DSS Case Against Malami, Son

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set May 26 for the Department of State Services (DSS) to commence its case against former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, and his son, Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami. The case, which was called before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, involves allegations of terrorism and illegal possession of firearms.

The DSS informed the court of an amended charge to replace the earlier arraignment. The defense attorney, Akinlolu Kehind, sought a date for the trial to begin, while Shaibu Aruwa, representing the defendants, confirmed that his clients agreed to the fresh charges read in court.

The charges allege that in December 2025, the defendants prepared to commit acts of terrorism and possessed firearms, including a Sturm Magnum 17 0101 and live ammunition, without a license. Both defendants pleaded not guilty, and the court allowed them to remain on bail, with conditions met from a previous grant on February 27.

The case has been adjourned to May 26 and June 15 for trial.
