Alumni Urge Government to Boost MAPOLY Funding

The alumni body of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) has called on the Nigerian government to review and increase funding for the institution, which currently receives a monthly allocation of 20.75 million Naira, insufficient for its operational needs. The total monthly salary expenditure for the institution is reported at 210 million Naira.

Soaga, a veteran broadcaster and former general manager of NTA, highlighted the necessity for enhanced funding to maintain basic infrastructure and support practical training in polytechnic education. He noted that the current financial allocation is inadequate for the institution to effectively teach and train students in various fields, including accounting, mass communication, and architecture.

Soaga also urged graduates to prioritize entrepreneurship and self-reliance, drawing from his own experience as a graduate in 1985. He expressed concern over the poor state of campus infrastructure and pledged that the alumni association would collaborate with stakeholders to improve facilities and provide mentorship and scholarship initiatives.
