MAPOLY Workers Urge Governor Abiodun for Financial Aid

Workers from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta have called on Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to provide special intervention funds to address the institution's financial crisis. The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) revealed that the monthly salary obligation of the institution stands at ₦210 million, while it only receives ₦20.75 million in monthly subvention from the state government.

This financial shortfall has persisted for a decade, exacerbated by harsh economic realities. The union emphasized that the lack of adequate funding has led to a decline in student enrollment and revenue generation, impacting the institution's ability to maintain infrastructure and support academic programs.

They highlighted the urgent need for investment in laboratories, workshops, and teaching equipment to meet accreditation standards set by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The union urged the government to review the current funding levels and provide support for accreditation programs and infrastructure rehabilitation to restore the institution's competitiveness and fulfill its educational mandate.
