Rotimi Amaechi Enters ADC Presidential Race with Nomination

Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport, has joined the presidential race by acquiring a nomination form from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The form was collected on his behalf by prominent political stakeholders, including former Edo State Governor John Odigi Oyegun, at the party's national secretariat in Abuja on Friday.

Amaechi becomes the second aspirant for the presidency from the ADC, following Moham Hayatu Deen, who had previously expressed interest in the nomination. The ADC is currently embroiled in leadership crises and multiple court cases, with notable members such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso having defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Despite these challenges, ADC's national public secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the defections as premeditated moves amid ongoing internal disputes. ADC's national chairman, Senator David Mark, assured members of the party's participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
