Amaechi Denies Vice Presidential Offer After ADC Loss

Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport, addressed rumors regarding a potential vice presidential offer from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following his defeat in the party's presidential primary. Amaechi lost to Atiku Abubakar, who secured 1,846,370 votes, while Amaechi garnered 504,117 votes, finishing second.

Mohd Hayatu-Deen placed third with 177,120 votes. Following the announcement of the results, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen boycotted the official declaration, with Amaechi describing the figures as concocted and not reflective of a transparent process.

In an interview, he clarified that he did not discuss a vice presidential role with ADC's national chairman, David Mark, and emphasized that no one had approached him regarding the position. Amaechi's visit to Atiku and several ADC leaders aimed to reconcile ahead of the general elections, but he firmly rejected any speculation about a joint ticket.
