Jimoh Ibrahim Appointed Nigeria's UN Permanent Representative

Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in March 2026. His appointment has evolved into a significant diplomatic role, especially with a Nigerian presiding over the UN General Assembly’s Fifth Committee, which oversees the UN's budget and administration.

Ibrahim's qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Public Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University, studies in International Relations at the London School of Economics, and Doctorates in Business and Modern War Studies from the University of Cambridge and the University of Buckingham, respectively. His diverse experience spans law, international relations, business, and public administration, equipping him to address complex issues at the UN.

Additionally, his tenure as a Senator representing Ondo South involved key committee roles that provided him with insights into government operations and negotiations.
