Nigeria's Stock Market Sees N15.06tn Transactions in 2026

In the first nine months of 2026, foreign and domestic investors' transactions on Nigeria's stock market totaled N15.06 trillion, according to the Nigerian Exchange Limited's report. Domestic investors dominated, making up 89.74% of transactions, a rise from 78.44% in the same period of 2025.
Domestic transactions increased to N13.52 trillion, a 102% rise from N6.69 trillion in 2025. Conversely, foreign investors contributed only 10.26%, down from 21.56% in 2025, with their transactions falling to N1.55 trillion, a 16.01% decline from N1.84 trillion.
The report attributes this growth to the National Pension Commission's decision in February 2026 to raise equity investment limits for pension funds, which injected liquidity into the market. Institutional investors accounted for N8.36 trillion of domestic transactions, compared to N5.15 trillion from retail investors.
Foreign portfolio outflows increased to N913.61 billion, while inflows decreased to N632.35 billion, influenced by FTSE Russell's downgrade of Nigeria.
