Nigerian Banks' AMCON, NDIC Expenses Reach N993.34bn

In the 2025 financial year, eight Nigerian banks, including Zenith Bank Plc and Access Holdings Plc, reported a total expenditure of N993.34 billion on Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) and Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) fees. This figure represents a 38.62% increase from N716.5 billion in 2024.

The AMCON levy was N646.88 billion, marking a 44.11% rise from N448.87 billion in 2024, while the NDIC insurance premium increased by 29% to N267.65 billion from N346.46 billion in 2025. Access Holdings paid the highest AMCON levy at N154.33 billion, a 37.5% increase from N112.23 billion in 2024, and also contributed N73.7 billion in NDIC premiums, up 54.7% from N47.67 billion in 2024.

Zenith Bank followed closely, paying N77.39 billion in NDIC premiums and N142.59 billion in AMCON levies. The AMCON was established in 2010 to stabilize the Nigerian banking system and manage non-performing loans.
