ADC Led by David Mark to Appeal Supreme Court Ruling

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of David Mark, is set to appeal to the Supreme Court after facing a setback from the Court of Appeal in Abuja. The appellate court affirmed a lower court's ruling that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the Mark-led leadership of the ADC.

This decision followed a split ruling from a three-member panel, with Justice Okon Abang leading the judgment, which found no grounds to overturn the restraining order issued by the Federal High Court on April 29. The court dismissed the ADC's appeal, stating that the matter fell within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court as per Section 251 of the 1999 Constitution.

The ADC was ordered to pay N10 million in costs. In response, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's national publicity secretary, stated that the decision would not affect the party's primary elections and expressed confidence in the party's mission to provide a credible alternative for Nigerians.
