Amosun Denies Pressuring Aspirants in Senate Race

Ibikunle Amosun, the former governor of Ogun State, publicly denied claims that he had asked aspirants to withdraw from the Ogun Central senatorial race in favor of a consensus candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This denial followed a stakeholders' meeting held in Abeokuta, where discussions reportedly took place regarding the adoption of a consensus candidate.

Amosun described the claims as inaccurate and stated that the reports misrepresented the discussions that occurred during the meeting. He emphasized that it is against democratic principles to pressure aspirants to step down and insisted that the decision to contest or withdraw from the race should remain a personal choice for each aspirant.

Amosun reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and stressed the importance of due process in candidate selection.
