Amotekun Arrests Five Suspected Gunmen in Ekiti State

On February 25, 2023, the Amotekun Corps in Ekiti State arrested five suspected gunmen in the Ekiti West Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Abdulahi Makana (28), Shuaba Ibrahim (25), Adamu Muham (25), Shlibu Umar (31), and Aruna Yahaya (28), were intercepted in the Itawur area after being reported by local indigenes.

They were seen alighting from a vehicle near a church along Itawur Road. Upon their arrest, Amotekun operatives recovered dangerous weapons, including two locally made guns, an axe, a dagger, a local sword, two dogs, five mobile phones, and assorted charms.

During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be farmers but provided no evidence to substantiate their claims. Adewale Adeboye, the spokesperson for Amotekun, noted that the recovered items were handed over to the Ekiti West Police Command for further investigation and appropriate action.
