Amotekun Intercepts Truck with 61 Suspected Criminals

The Amotekun Corp, a security network agency in Ondo State, intercepted a truck in Akure carrying 61 suspected criminals. The operation took place in the Akure North Local Government Area, where the suspects were concealed in a trailer loaded with bags of beans.

This interception is part of a broader initiative to address the recent increase in kidnappings and violent crimes in the region. Amotekun Corp's command, led by Adetunji Adeley, disclosed that a total of 95 suspects are currently in custody, with 34 of them physically paraded before journalists.

The agency has also made 12 arrests connected to kidnapping-related offenses and apprehended three individuals for violating the state’s anti-grazing law. Adeley explained that these arrests resulted from a week of joint security operations involving multiple agencies, including the Nigeria Police and the Nigerian Army.

The agency has established two static security posts in forest routes and has successfully foiled five kidnapping attempts in the area.
