Ekiti Amotekun Corps Arrests Five Gunmen, Recovers Arms

On Wednesday, the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps arrested five suspected gunmen in the Ekiti West Local Government Area. The operation was confirmed by the state’s communication officer, Adeley Adewal, on Thursday.

The suspects, identified as Abdulahi Makana (28), Shuaba Ibrahim (25), Adamu Muham (25), Shlibu Umar (31), and Aruna Yahaya (28), reportedly hail from the northern region of the country. They were apprehended after being seen alighting from a vehicle at a motor park near a church along Itawur Road, following reports from local residents.

The Amotekun command swiftly responded to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons, including two locally made guns, an axe, a local sword, two dogs, five cell phones, and assorted charms. Upon interrogation, the suspects claimed to be farmers but failed to provide evidence to substantiate their claims.

The Ekiti West Police Command is conducting further investigations for necessary actions.
