INEC Delegation Visits South Korea for Election Observations

Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led a delegation to the International Election Observation Programme (IEOP) in South Korea, which runs from May 29 to June 5, 2026.

The opening ceremony was held on May 30, 2026, in Seoul and was organized by the South Korean National Election Commission (NEC). The event aims to bring together electoral management bodies, electoral experts, and international observers to exchange knowledge and conduct observations of local government elections in South Korea.

The INEC delegation included Mr. Victoria Eta, Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mr.

Mai Agbamuch Mbu, Chief Technical Adviser, Prof. Dimi Mai Lafia, Director of Training, and Dr.

Binta Kasim. The team observed early voting operations at polling centers in Mia Dong Gangbuk Gu, Seoul, to gain firsthand insights into South Korea's electoral processes and procedures.

The participation of the delegation is expected to deepen INEC's understanding of emerging trends and global best practices in electoral administration.
