Nigeria's Elite Athletes Set for Budapest Championship

Tobi Amusan, the world-record holder in the women's 100m hurdles, and Olympic sprint finalist Kayinsola Ajayi have been selected to lead Nigeria's team at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, taking place from September 11 to 13 in Budapest, Hungary. This championship will showcase elite athletes, including Olympic and World champions, and aims to crown the ultimate track and field champions.

Nigeria's current roster includes Amusan (women’s 100m hurdles), Ajayi (men’s 100m), Nathaniel Ezekiel (men’s 400m hurdles), Samuel Ogazi (men’s 400m), and Ella Onojuvwevwo (women’s 400m). High jumper Temitope Adeshina is still in contention for a spot before the September 2 qualification deadline.

The Nigerian relay pool features athletes such as Alaba Akintola and Udodi Onwuzurike. The championship offers a significant platform for emerging talents like Ajayi and Ogazi, alongside established stars like Amusan.

The event boasts a total prize pool of $10 million, with individual gold medalists set to earn $150,000 each.
