Tobi Amusan Sets Meet Record in 2026 Diamond League Win

Tobi Amusan, the 29-year-old Nigerian sprint hurdler and world record holder, achieved a significant milestone by winning her first Diamond League race of the 2026 season in Rabat. She completed the women's 100m hurdles in 12.28 seconds, which not only equals the season's best but also sets a new meet record, surpassing the previous record of 12.45 seconds.

The race featured a legal tailwind of 1.2 m/s. Amusan's performance was dominant, with Bahamian athlete Devynn Charlton finishing second in 12.40 seconds and Nadin Visser from the Netherlands placing third in 12.47 seconds.

This victory marks a strong start to Amusan's 2026 Diamond League campaign, following a third-place finish in Shanghai with a time of 12.41 seconds and a record of 12.28 seconds in Xiamen. As a three-time Diamond League champion, having won the overall title in 2021, 2022, and 2023, her latest performance indicates a return to peak form as she prepares for major international championships later in the year.
