Tobi Amusan Secures Third in Diamond League Opener

At the 2026 Diamond League opener held in Shanghai, Tobi Amusan placed third in the women's 100m hurdles, achieving a season's best time of 12.41 seconds. This event followed her recent victory at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Ghana.

Amusan finished behind Olympic champion Masai Russell from the Bahamas, who won the race with a meet record and world-leading time of 12.25 seconds, improving the previous world lead of 12.40 seconds. Devynn Charlton finished second with a time of 12.38 seconds.

Amusan, whose world record stands at 12.12 seconds, faced a competitive field that included reigning world champion Ditaji Kambundji from Switzerland, who finished fifth with a time of 12.82 seconds. Amusan expressed gratitude for her support team and her determination to achieve further success this season.
