AMVCA 12th Edition Set for May 2026 with Joke Silva

The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) is set to officially kick off with nominations announced on Sunday, March 29, 2026. This year, Joke Silva has been named the head judge, bringing her extensive experience in the industry to the role.

The event will feature 32 award categories, including 18 decided by a jury, 11 by public vote, and 3 special recognition awards. Notably, this edition introduces a new category recognizing the best indigenous language film in North Central Africa.

Diageo will partner with AMVCA as the headline sponsor through its Don Julio brand, which is part of a broader portfolio that includes Malta Guinness and Smirnoff. Segun Ogunley from Diageo emphasized the partnership's commitment to celebrating cultural pride and craftsmanship.

The AMVCA will take place on May 9, 2026, marking a significant milestone in recognizing African storytelling and creativity.
