Blogger Arraigned for Defaming Governor Soludo in Anambra

Inew Ejik Ofoegbu, the owner of Igbo Time Magazine, was arraigned in Anambra State for criminal defamation and cybercrime related to false reports about Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his family. The case was presented at the magistrate court in Amawbia.

Ofoegbu publicly apologized and issued an unconditional retraction of the fabricated stories, acknowledging that the reports concerning Governor Soludo's son, Ozonna, were entirely false and lacked any verifiable facts or credible sources. He admitted that the motivation behind the false reports was to attract online traffic for financial gain.

The retraction included several viral posts that falsely claimed Soludo disowned his son and made derogatory statements about him. Ofoegbu's admission of guilt and the nature of the fabricated reports have raised significant concerns regarding the impact of misinformation in the media landscape.
