Anambra Government Arraigns Blogger for False Reports

The Anambra State Government has arraigned blogger Ejik Ofoegbu on charges of criminal defamation and cybercrime following public reports of false claims regarding Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his family. The case commenced at the magistrate court in Amawbia on Monday.

The Anambra State New Media Team confirmed that Ofoegbu was brought to court to answer charges linked to public concerns about the governor's family. Ofoegbu publicly apologized and retracted several reports circulated widely on social media, admitting that the stories about Governor Soludo's son, Ozonna Soludo, were not true.

He acknowledged that the reports lacked factual basis and were not supported by credible sources. Ofoegbu expressed regret for the incident, stating that his actions were driven by a desire to attract online attention and increase audience engagement.

The state government has not indicated whether additional charges will be filed as the case is expected to continue in court.
