Anambra SSG Clarifies Role in Fake Agency Controversy

Nnake, the Secretary to the Government of Anambra State, clarified her involvement with a purported agency, the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, which was exposed as fake by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). ICPC Chairman Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, disclosed that the agency had secured office space within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and had coordinators across various states and countries.

Following this revelation, President Bola Tinubu ordered the suspension of three permanent secretaries linked to the agency and directed the arrest of its alleged Director-General. Nnake stated that she was nominated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo in February 2026 as Anambra's focal person after receiving a request from the agency in January 2026.

She emphasized that her role was limited to official communications regarding her nomination and the preparations for a proposed South-East Made-in-Nigeria Fair, scheduled for December 2 to 5, 2026, and that she was misled into believing the organization was legitimate.
