Anambra Assembly Suspends Top Lawmaker, Reason Emerges

The Anambra State House of Assembly has suspended Bernard Udemezue, the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, for three months. Udemezue was suspended for sharing damaging content on social media alleging that his constituency was marginalized.

The House passed a resolution to suspend him without salary after summoning him to explain his actions. This suspension comes after six other lawmakers were suspended for allegedly plotting to impeach the Speaker.

In a separate development, Speaker Aondona Dajoh appointed a new spokesperson to replace one of the suspended members. The suspension of Udemezue and the growing tension within the Assembly have raised concerns about the stability of the legislative body.

This action follows a recent confrontation with Senator Natasha over seat relocation and access to the National Assembly.
