Benue Assembly Suspends Four Lawmakers Over Failed Speaker Impeachment Plot

The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers for their involvement in a failed impeachment plot against Speaker Dajoh. The suspended members include Alfred Berger, Terna Shimawua, Cyril Ekong, and James Umoru.

The Assembly described their actions as a direct affront to the leadership and internal order. The four lawmakers will not be allowed to participate in legislative activities for the next six months as a disciplinary measure.

This suspension has heightened political tension within the Assembly, with the leadership emphasizing that any acts capable of destabilizing the legislature will not be tolerated. Additionally, the House has made adjustments to its leadership structure and has commenced the screening of five commissioner nominees.

Meanwhile, the Edo State House of Assembly has submitted 11 nominees for screening and approval, with concerns raised about gender imbalance among the confirmed nominees.
