Anambra State Launches Free Hypertension Screening Initiative

The Anambra State Government has commenced a free hypertension screening service for residents at public health facilities across the state. Dr.

Nony Soludo, the wife of the state governor, announced this initiative in Awka on Friday, urging residents to utilize the opportunity for hypertension screening, which is currently one of the most common and deadliest health conditions in society. This initiative reflects the administration's commitment to building a healthier Anambra and ensuring quality healthcare access for everyone.

Dr. Soludo emphasized the importance of early detection to prevent health conditions from becoming life-threatening.

She encouraged every adult to visit the nearest public health facility to ascertain their blood pressure status. Dr.

Afam Obidik, the state commissioner for health, confirmed that the program is available at primary healthcare centers and general hospitals statewide. The initiative aims to facilitate regular blood pressure checks and provide appropriate medical advice, addressing hypertension as a significant public health challenge.
