Anambra FA to Honor Senator Ifeanyi Ubah with Match

The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) is organizing a novelty match on August 1, 2024, to commemorate the second anniversary of the death of its former chairman, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. The match will take place at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium along Ozubulu Road in Nnewi.

Ralph George, the chairman of the ANSFA Media Committee, announced the event, which aims to celebrate Ubah's contributions to football in Anambra State and Nigeria. Ubah, known as Ebubechukwu Uzo, served as the ANSFA chairman from 2016 to 2020, during which he launched the One Family, One Footballer initiative to develop grassroots football talent.

He also facilitated a partnership between FC Ifeanyi Ubah and English Premier League club West Ham United. Under his leadership, FC Ifeanyi Ubah won the 2016 Federation Cup and represented Nigeria in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

Ubah passed away on July 27, 2024.
