Anambra Government Linked to Fake Federal Agency Scam

The Anambra State Government has been implicated in a scam involving a fraudulent agency, the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office, as uncovered by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). This organization falsely operated from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and engaged with state governments without official authorization.

Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, the Secretary to the Government of Anambra, explained that the state was first contacted in January 2026 through a letter addressed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, which requested the nomination of a focal person. Nnake was nominated and later participated in a WhatsApp group with focal persons from all 36 states.

The agency requested Anambra to host the South-East edition of a Made-in-Nigeria Fair, scheduled for December 2 to 5, 2026. However, the ICPC's investigation revealed the agency's illegitimacy, identifying Prince George Buchi Nwabueze as its promoter.
