Allegations of 'Fake' Made-in-Nigeria Office Surface

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has alleged that the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office is a fictitious government entity operating without presidential authorization. Despite these claims, the organization has been involved in activities with federal ministries and state governments.

The ICPC noted that the office was allocated space within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and suspected collaboration from within. The organization’s website describes it as focused on promoting homegrown economic strategies and has engaged in various activities, including trade fairs and SME development.

Notably, the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation met with Abia State officials, including Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, to discuss promoting Made-in-Nigeria products. The ministry's report indicated the state's commitment to collaborating with the project, raising questions about the legitimacy of the office's operations.
