Labour Party Elects New Executive in Enugu, Expels Chairman

The Labour Party held its state congress at Filbon Hotel in New Haven, Enugu, where a new executive committee was elected for the next four years. Chief Ugwu Kingslei Chidera was elected as the state chairman, with Dr.

Chibuzor Onyema as the secretary and Chukwuemeka Ephraim Ugwu as the deputy chairman. The party also announced the expulsion of former state chairman Casmir Uchenna Agbo due to alleged anti-party activities.

In his acceptance speech, Chidera expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence and pledged to enhance the party's impact, emphasizing the need for renewed vision and purpose in leadership. He highlighted the challenges facing the state and the nation, including economic hardship and governance deficits, and outlined priorities to strengthen the party's structure across wards and local government areas.

Dr. Chibuzor Onyema expressed confidence that the party would secure electoral positions in the 2027 general elections, building on the reorganization efforts initiated after the 2023 elections.
